DIY: Punch Needle Tote Bag
Here’s a fun little project featuring our Grey Flat Tote with DIY punch needle embroidery. With a few materials you can make this geometric tote bag - the perfect craft bag, gift bag, everyday grab and go bag.
Materials:
#1 Superfine Sock/Fingering Yarn
Ultra Punch Needle
Q Snap Frame
Scissors
Directions:
Flip your tote bag inside out.
Transfer your design to the inside front of your tote bag. I cut out my design on card stock with my Cricut to make a stencil and then traced it with chalk, centered, on the inside of my tote. Make sure the image is flipped/mirrored so that, once punched, it will be oriented correctly on the outside of the tote.
The loops will be on the outside of the tote and the flat embroidery stitches on the inside.
Place Q Snap frame inside tote and snap in place with design centered. For this project I used an 11” x 11” square Q Snap frame.
Fill in your design using your punch needle and sock weight yarn. Make sure yarn flows smoothly through your needle. For this project I used Quince and Co Finch yarn in egret and the largest size needle for the Ultra Punch.
Once punch needle is finished, flip bag right side out and clean up punch needle. Iron out any marks from Q Snap frame.
Now your project is complete and you have a beautiful new tote bag with lots of fun texture. Enjoy!
