DIY: Embroidered Wedding Dress Tea Towel
Our newest DIY is an embroidered tea towel with wedding dresses illustrated by artist, Kristy Lankford. Drag and drop our pattern below, trace it onto your tea towel using a Pilot Frixion Erasable Pen (when iron is applied these lines will disappear) and a light source such as a window or light box. We used a variety of stitches including backstitch to outline the dresses, french knot for the circle details on the first dress, a satin stitch for the waist on the middle dress, and chain stitch variations for other small details. Feel free to experiment with your own stitches and colors.
You could also apply this design to any other blank canvas, tote bags, pouches, and more - or stitch these dresses onto a piece of fabric and turn them into wall art using an embroidery hoop as a frame, sew it up into a fun clutch for your bride-to-be, or stitch onto pashminas for bridesmaid gifts.
